AD&D President's Letter: Arthur WatsonIt is my honor and privilege to serve as the 2023-2024 President for the Association of Deans and Directors of University Colleges and Undergraduate Studies (AD&D). I am excited to engage with each of you as we embark upon a new academic year. It is my hope that we can learn, grow, and reinvigorate ourselves through both professional development opportunities and the annual meeting, set for April 2024. Through the wonderful learning and networking experiences I’ve had because of my membership in AD&D, I feel empowered to give back to an organization that has so richly given to me. As your president, my goals are to:
Together, we will transcend the past and work together to advance AD&D to a new level. For the past 19 years, I have had the privilege of working at the largest, public institution in the country, Texas A&M University. While I have held various positions, I currently serve as the Executive Director for Transition Academic Programs (TAP). TAP advises our undeclared students, oversees both the University’s co-enrollment and provisional admission programs, provides insight through our majors exploration program (Explore), and gives an opportunity through our second chance, intensive advising program, Aggies Thrive. I am fortunate to lead a wonderful team of professionals to assist students in success. This is in no small part to the knowledge, best practices, and relationships I’ve gained through AD&D. I look forward to working with each of you. 2023-2024 is going to be a great year! Sincerely, Dr. Arthur C. Watson President
