2024-2025 President Elect: Adrienne Sewell

Greetings Fellow AD&D members!

It is my privilege to serve as the 2024-25 President-Elect for the  Association of Deans and Directors of University Colleges and Undergraduate Studies (AD&D). I hope you found the 37th Annual Meeting in Tempe engaging and rejuvenating and that you returned home for the completion of the 2023-2024 academic year with renewed energy.

Chairing the Annual Meeting Planning Committee for the 37th Annual Meeting was a privilege, and I relished attending the best practice presentations and participating in the engaging facilitated discussions.look forward to our continued engagement and conversation throughout the coming year

Back on my campus at Indiana University Bloomington, the air is charged with springtime energy. Classes are gearing up for finals, students are meeting with advisors to plan their enrollment, and the excitement surrounding the Little 500 Bike Race (a hallmark event featured in the movie Breaking Away) permeates the atmosphere. These vibrant interactions remind us that our units exist to support and empower our students, ensuring their success as our campuses thrive.

For the past two decades, I have had the privilege of working at Indiana University Bloomington in University Division, our University College, soon to be re-named Advising and Major Exploration Services. As the Director of Advising for Retention and Sophomore Initiatives in Undergraduate Education, I am committed to guiding and assisting our unit through its current restructuring and am interested in seeing what this next year will hold.

My journey with AD&D began in 2015 when I attended the 29th Annual Meeting in San Diego. What struck me most was the emphasis on meaningful discussion, which led to lasting connections. AD&D for me has been a place to seek advice, ask questions, and connect with fellow higher education professionals. I encourage each of you to actively engage by joining committees and attending monthly professional development webinars. Additionally, consider sharing your AD&D experiences with others in your network, enabling us to connect with other dedicated professionals who are prepared to actively contribute to our impactful discussions. Together, we will further enhancethe vital work of University Colleges and Undergraduate Studies/Education, championing student success and amplifying our impact on campuses.

Thank you for your continued engagement with AD&D.

With enthusiasm,

Adrienne Felicity Sewell
